World’s First Motorcycle: German inventors built "riding car" in 1885

we spend an awful lot of time searching out and covering stories about the motorcycles that will shape the future of the industry. Sometimes it is also a good idea to turn around and look back at just how far we’ve come. The first known motorcycle in existence was constructed back in 1885 by German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach near Stuttgart. Essentially a motorized wooden bicycle, the Reitwagen, (riding car) as it was called, was the first petroleum-powered transportation device

The “Reitrad” was registered with the patent office on August 29, 1885 creating a whole new way to travel. The first public test ride occurred on November 10 of the same year with Daimler’s younger son, Adolf in the saddle giving birth to the public fascination for motorcycles that still exists today. It may seem like a basic and rudimentary design but just think, if it weren’t for the invention of this gas-powered wooden gadget 124 years ago, we might still be getting around by horse and buggy

New Bajaj Pulsar CS 400

The Bajaj Pulsar CS 400 is easily among the most exciting vehicles that were showcased at the recently conducted Auto Expo 2014. The new motorcycle boasts of a really aggressive styling, has high attention to detail, and thanks to the Pulsar brand backing, promises to spawn a really tasty production spec model.

The Pulsar CS 400 (Cruiser Sports) will be the naked sibling to the upcoming fully faired Pulsar SS 400 (Super Sports) and barring the styling bits, the two bikes share almost everything with each other. It may be noted that the Pulsar CS 400 is the same ‘new cruiser motorcycle’ that Bajaj Auto Ltd had promised to showcase at the Expo. While most of were hoping that Bajaj would bring out the next generation Avenger, the 400 CS is what came our way and no, we aren’t complaining, not at all! Rather, we are very excited about the direction in which the Pulsar brand is headed.

Powering the new Bajaj Pulsar CS 400 CS is the same fuel injected 375cc liquid cooled 4 valve single cylinder engine that powers the SS 400. This engine comes mated to a six speed manual gearbox and is based on that of the KTM 390 Duke and hence, there are very good chances that the two new bikes boast of healthy power figures. Here are some of the features of the new Bajaj Pulsar CS 400:
·         Disc brakes at front and rear
·         Standard ABS
·         An All-digital speed conole
·         Fuel Injection
·         8 lightning elements for the headlamp
·         Mono suspension at rear
·         Upside Down Telescopic forks at front

Hero Hastur : New lauch bike by HERO COMPANY

Hero MotoCorp unveiled the mean, aggressive looking 600cc concept bike called Hastur at the Auto Expo. It is touted to be the first high-performance motorcycle from the Indian manufacturer. The concept bike has an intimidating look with its twin-projector head-lamps, naked structure and beefy yet sporty tyres.

This concept bike is powered by a water-cooled parallel twin engine that churns out 80PS of power at 9,600rpm. The bike also features an auto style power transfer to give best fuel economy figures, an advanced cylinder head and combustion design for reduced emissions.

The introduction of the Hero Hastur makes it the first superbike developed in- house by the Gurgaon- based manufacturer. The design and the finishing of the bike seem to be fit for the international market as well. We hope Hero brings the concept to the actual form soon and launches it in India.
